Chia seeds are edible seeds that you may have first heard of them in ads for “Chia Pets” where the seeds are grown on animal shaped pottery pieces.

The tiny black chia seeds are gathered from a type plant that is part of the mint family, which is found in the southwest United States and Mexico.

Chia seeds are very small in size and very tasty. They contain magnesium, calcium, potassium, and omega 3 and are full of antioxidants and have very high protein content. In fact, they contain more protein by weight than any dairy or meat product. Chia seeds boost energy and can give the same results as an energy drink minus the sugar. Below are the four ways to include chia seeds in your diet.

  1. You can add chia seeds in yogurt. It will be a good combination of healthy food because chia seeds have antibiotics while yogurt has probiotics. To add extra vitamins add some fruits.
  2. Add chia seeds to your breakfast cereals as breakfast. You can also use chia seeds in a smoothie with fruit. The taste of chia seeds is similar to the seeds of raspberries.
  3. Add chia seeds to any type of salad or baked items.
  4. Mix chia seeds in your drinks. You can enjoy a lemon or orange juice chia seed drink or add them to a milkshake with any fruit. When wet, chia seeds become very much like cooked tapioca.
